FAWM Project

In 2020, I challenged myself to write 14 songs or compositions during the month of February. The purpose of this project was manyfold, with a primary focus on becoming unstuck creatively, a personal project apart from my typical work. I posted a song each day via social media (Instagram, Facebook, Soundcloud, etc.), regardless of recorded fidelity or personal fondness as a means of becoming less precious about the making and sharing of my art. I also used this project as a catalyst for growth both as a composer and pianist (not my primary instrument in the past), limiting my compositions to being written both 1) at the piano with pen and paper, and 2) recorded on piano with very little else.

It is the people I get to share my life and art with that make it worth it in the first place. I've come to understand the importance of community and am learning to be better about fostering it. This project, perhaps most importantly, gave me an excuse to share a bit more about myself while making art and meeting people at the same time. I hope you find something to enjoy!
